  Perfect!

  A lovely warm welcome, and excellent service. Sausage rolls were warm, rolls and bread were fresh, as were the scones, and we had a lovely selection of small cakes and pastries. When asked about any dietary requirements, my friend just asked if all sandwiches contained mayonnaise, and was promptly served a selection without mayo. It was also no trouble to substitute a soft drink for the glass of fizz. A lovely way to spend time with friends.

Modern city centre European restaurant

Windows at the Carlton George Hotel in the city centre is Glasgow’s only rooftop restaurant and can be found on West George Street, just off Buchanan Street and George Square. Serving European dishes in a relaxed atmosphere, the seventh floor restaurant is wheelchair accessible and child-friendly. While the vista from Windows could be a potential distraction from what’s on your plate, the inspired work going on in the kitchen means that you are unlikely to be gazing out over the rooftops for too long. Glasgow’s skyline is eye-catching but so is the food at Windows.

Seasonal menu & locally sourced ingredients

The menu at Windows changes every four weeks which means that the restaurant can always offer something new to its Glasgow regulars as well as the hotel’s guests. The seasonal nature of the menu means that these example dishes may be different on your visit to Windows but the underlying ethos of using locally sourced ingredients will be the same.

This could mean highland venison served with Stornoway black pudding stovies, buttered cabbage, caramelised fig and a chocolate jus or a starter of ham hough and crubeens served with a celeriac remoulade and an Arran mustard chutney. Whatever dish you choose, it will quickly become clear that it is not just the views that keep customer returning to Windows at Carlton George Hotel.

Beside Glasgow’s ‘style mile’, Windows is on West George Street in the city centre and a stone’s throw from Queen Street train station as well as Buchanan Street Subway station. Payable parking is available at the nearby Buchanan Galleries car park and several bus routes are within walking distance.
