What Are Some Top Tips For Excellent Growth?

  • Keep the soil well watered and if growing in a pot, use good-quality, soil-based compost
  • Add Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi to the roots when planting to help establish your tree more quickly.
  • Placing the bare root in a place that receives full sun will ensure the best crops
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the roots, loosen the bottom of the soil with a fork and add some good quality fertiliser
  • The soil mark on the bare route is a good aim for the planting depth
  • Use your heel to compact the soil around the plant to ensure good contact around the roots
  • If planting into pots, place some rocks at the bottom, allowing for drainage and ballast
  • Apply a slow release fertiliser and mulch in the early spring to retain moisture.
  • In late winter, take away any diseased, dying or damaged branches, especially when the tree is fairly established, to encourage further growth
