Italian gem

Lovely dining experience with great service and fantastic food. Staff could not have been more helpful and attentive. We dined with friends and all plan to return with their partners very soon. We had mushrooms, calamari, soup and focaccia bread followed by lasagne and risotto, all cooked to perfection and presented very well.

Family-run Italian in Renfrew

Luna Rossa is on Canal Street in Renfrew. A cocktail bar and Italian bistro, the venture comes from the same family that have run the well established and award-winning Piccolo Mondo restaurants. A stylish space fitted with smart wooden panelling, Luna Rossa has a great drinks list to complement the food. The resident mixologists are more than happy to rustle up a Martini or a Manhattan, a pint or a Pinot Grigio.

Italian and Mediterranean favourites

As well as a menu of spuntini, or Italian tapas, Luna Rossa offers a full a la carte. Popular starters include the selection of cured Italian meats, stuffed mushrooms with a garlic mayonnaise and the bruschetta.

There is a thoughtful selection of risotto and pasta dishes as well as classic Italian dishes like the chicken Milanese, fritto misto and seafood in a white wine and garlic sauce. The Luna Rossa steaks, stews and stroganoffs are also a big hit.

The house speciality is the beef stew in pepper sauce which has a definite kick. Diners can cool off with deserts such as the selection of Italian ice cream, cheesecake or a chocolate and pecan brownie.

Renfrew attractions and transport links

Luna Rossa is on Canal Street, in the centre of Renfrew. Braehead Shopping Centre is a five minute drive while Glasgow city centre is a quarter of an hour away. There is limited on-street parking. Nearby attractions include Renfrew Museum and Robertson Park.
