Delicious, authentic Italian food that was also very good value. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly.

Fabulous meal in lovely setting

Fabulous meal - 3 courses a la carte and a glass of wine for £22 each. The full menu was available to choose from, so we had bruscetta and croquettes to start, a beef pasta and chicken and rosemary dish for mains, and tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert. Great portions! The restaurant is very homely and comfortable. There is an aperativo bar upstairs at the weekend that I'll definitely be back to try. Well worth a visit!

Newton Mearns Italian

Dimora is an Italian restaurant on Ayr Road in Newton Mearns. Housed in a 19th century sandstone villa, Dimora is decorated in an appealing palette of greys and creams with rustic, exposed stone walls contrasting with industrial style lighting. As well as a patio for summertime al fresco dining, Dimora has two private dining rooms. The restaurant also has an adjoining wine bar serving coffees, wine and cocktails. It is a cosy and relaxed space which occasionally hosts gentle live music.

Neapolitan regional cooking

Dimora specialises in dishes from the Campania region which covers Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The kitchen likes to make as much as possible from scratch including their own pizza dough and pasta. They import specialist Italian ingredients and skilfully prepare them with seasonal Scottish meat, fish and vegetables.

The staff recommend dishes such as the baked aubergine with tomato, mozzarella and basil or the scialatelle pasta with wild mushrooms and king prawns. More familiar options might be the Margherita pizza; the calamari with garlic mayo or the pork rib ragu pasta. There are always lots of enticing seafood options. Dessert might be tiramisu, ice cream or a brioche bread and butter pudding.
