  An absolute gem of a Restaurant in a lovely location

  An absolutely fantastic restaurant in a lovely hotel. The staff were very attentive and very friendly and the food was mouth-wateringly scrumptious. We had the carrot and coriander soup for starters and the mushroom risotto for main along with creme brûlée and a dark chocolate pave. The fresh bread given before the starter was the best I have ever tasted. One of the best meals I have had in a long time! We will definitely be back. Thanks again for a wonderful lunch

Spectacular restaurant in 5 star Mar Hall

With beautiful decorative ceilings, stunning chandeliers and vibrant Archie Forrest art, Cristal Restaurant is as much a feast for the eyes as the taste buds. The sumptuous dining room is part of the hotel resort on the 240 acre Mar Hall Estate and the views though the 20 foot high windows are as engaging as the food. The staff combine professional service with a relaxing, informal warmth.

Seasonal Scottish ingredients

The Cristal kitchen uses the finest local produce to create their dishes. The lamb is from Dornoch; the pork from Ayrshire and the fish are landed at Peterhead. The menu changes with the seasons and offers an appealing range of styles. Some of the dishes, such as the twice baked Arran Cheddar soufflé or the Ayrshire ham hock and foie gras terrine, prominently fly the flag for Scottish ingredients.

Other choices, such as the butternut squash cannelloni or the roast chicken breast served with mixed bean casserole, pancetta and Madeira jus, show a more Mediterranean influence. The grill section of the menu delivers selected steaks from Perthshire and Aberdeenshire.

Cristal Restaurant is part of Mar Hall Golf and Spa Resort on the Earl of Mar Estate by Bishopton. The hotel is a ten minute drive from both Kilpatrick and Bishopton train stations and a fifteen minute drive along the M8 from Glasgow. There is ample free parking on site.
