Located in an A-listed railway arch, The Arches is one of Glasgow’s hippest performance spaces. Its Café Bar is a modern eatery which is perfect for a night out; a bite to eat after work, lunch or as a pre-theatre meal before catching a performance in the venue.
The venue is an innovative space with a unique design. The mood changes as the day progresses and laid-back lunches, intimate pre-theatre dining and fast-paced evening snacking all prove popular.
Lunch-time snacks favour fajitas and duck salad, whilst the fine food menu, served in the secluded restaurant area, is chic with a strong showing of Scottish seafood.
Food promotions link with the venue’s programme of events, and quality local ingredients are the order of the day; haggis and homemade gourmet burgers as house favourites. The bar offers a decent selection of cocktails, beers, wines and some snacks.
People watching is optional, but the Arches is strong on happening events which keep the place lively. Look out for regularly changing artists’ installations in the restaurant. Unfortunately children under 18 are not allowed on the premises after 8pm.
Access to the Arches Café Bar is via Argyle Street under the railway arches of Central Station. St Enoch’s Subway is a five minute walk away and numerous bus routes pass by,
