Alla Turca is a Turkish restaurant in Glasgow’s city centre, so authentic that professional restaurant critics have compared it to the mezze bars of Istanbul. A family-run concern, Alla Turca is popular with couples, groups, lunching workers and, given its proximity to the King’s, lots of theatre fans. Thanks to its Turkish cushions and ornamental hookah pipes, Alla Turca certainly looks the part, with unobtrusive live music provided by the house guitarist adding to the atmosphere.
Traditional Turkish dishes are the focus of the menu at Glasgow’s Alla Turca, however they are complemented by the kitchen’s own innovations. Barbecued lamb and chicken feature prominently along side hot and cold mezze such as humus, falafel and chicken skewers. Local ingredients are used where possible and they crop up in choices such as the fresh Shetland king scallops, and house specials include the Alla Turca mixed grill of lamb, chicken, kofte and lamb chops.
Alla Turca offers private dining for up to 40 people, and the main restaurant is bookable for up to 60 people. Alla Turca is an ideal choice for diners looking for a taste of Turkey. Situated on Pitt Street, between Sauchiehall and Bath Street, bus and taxi links are easily accessible.
