Italians have their own idea about what makes the perfect pizza — it’s all in the tomato sauce, which should be simple, raw and fresh. In honour of this, Pomo Pizzeria has named itself after the Italian word for tomato (pomodoro) and aims to deliver a truly authentic experience to boot.
Inside, the space is sleek yet relaxed, with black & white photo murals creating a distinctly la dolce vita vibe. In other words, this is a fab spot for stylishly laidback dining with friends.
The pizzaiolo (pizza makers) at Pomo are proud to craft a range of regional Italian offerings.
For instance, they are passionate about Roman pizza, which is thinner, crunchier and lighter than your classic Chicago deep-pan. But that said, if you’re extra peckish then opt for the heartier Neapolitan crust.
Toppings include all-time favourites like margherita, quattro formaggi and marinara, as well as regional and speciality choices. The latter include Santa Lucia (mozzarella, mixed salami and chilli), Siciliana (mozzarella, aubergine and ricotta) and Pomo (mozzarella, prosciutto cotto, artichokes, olives and basil). Vegan and gluten-free options are also available.
Not in the mood for pizza? Then tuck into a pasta dish instead, such as veal & beef lasagne or gnocchi sorrento.
Just a stroll away from Haymarket station, this Morrison Street pizzeria occupies a prime spot in Edinburgh’s buzzy West End. Both the Odeon Lothian Road and Edinburgh International Conference Centre are nearby, as is the stunning St. Mary’s Cathedral (actually the tallest building in the city).
