Really first rate food.

New Chapter Restaurant opened on Edinburgh’s Eyre Place in the autumn of 2015. A cosy spot with large windows to the street, a semi-open kitchen and two private dining rooms, it is popular with local residents as well as visitors from other parts of the city.
Well sourced Scottish ingredients are prominent on the seasonal menus at the New Chapter Restaurant. Hand-dived Ullapool scallops are served with a cucumber and cockles relish, oyster leaf, black pudding and apple while the haunch of Borders venison comes with a game and sauerkraut pithivier. The rib-eye steak is from the Borders and dry aged for 35 days.
Seafood lovers are well catered for with options like the North Sea plaice with brown shrimp, sea vegetables and potatoes roasted in seaweed butter. The veggie dishes are just as interesting. A typical veg starter might be the truffled poached egg with wild mushrooms, Jerusalem artichoke and mushroom consommé.
Dessert fans are also in for a treat. The pudding selection might feature a mandarin cake with chocolate and orange ice cream or a lemon verbena panna cotta with a blackberry compote and meringues.
New Chapter Restaurant is Eyre Place just off the foot of Dundas Street. There are regular bus services to and from the city centre from Dundas Street. There is limited on-street parking. Waverley train station and the tram line is a twenty minute walk. The Botanic Gardens and the National Portrait Gallery are both within a fifteen minute walk.
