Although we enjoyed ourselves, the place felt a bit grubby, the tables were very sticky and chairs ripped, if they could spruce the place up and make it look cleaner I’d definitely return as the food was good.

Promising to conjure up the spirit of the ’gaucho’ (South American cowboy), Los Argentinos is a rustic steakhouse serving up prime Argentine beef. Wooden tables, banquette seating and Argentinian wall prints all create a relaxed vibe that is ideal for enjoying a no-nonsense feast. Wines are carefully sourced from all over the globe to showcase the flavours of the steaks, plus cocktails are also available.
At Los Argentinos, you can tuck into steaks grilled to your own taste (medium, rare or well-done), as well as fresh seafood, barbecue ribs and chicken.
Menus can change regularly, but the steak section includes rump, sirloin, fillet and ribeye, all sourced from Argentina. Steaks are served with a choice of barbecue, peppercorn, garlic, bearnaise, mushroom cream or spiced tomato sauce, as well as a pot of traditional chimichurri.
The specials menu includes a gigantic t-bone steak; beef kebab with onion & red pepper, and fillet steak with bearnaise sauce. All are served with salad plus French fries or baked potato.
Steak alternatives include ribs with barbecue sauce, whole grilled sea bream and grilled chicken fillet. Veggies can tuck into the Menu Vegetariano, a plate of grilled mixed vegetables with rice, salad, corn on the cob and baked potatoes or French fries.
All desserts are carefully matched with a complementary fortified wine.
Less than a 10-minute drive from the city centre, Los Argentinos is just a short stroll from both The Meadows and Summerhall. The University of Edinburgh is also nearby, as is Prestonfield Golf Club. You can find limited pay parking on the street outside.
