I love this place, food is always excellent, friendly and relaxed. Service was a little slow this time but not a great issue. I forgot about my 5pm offer and don’t think it was applied, next time I will check as I’ll definitely be back. Sat inside, looked very busy outside as more tables been added.

Imagine a dining spot tucked away in lovely walled gardens set within a landmark park and you’ve got The Garden Bistro…
The setting is Saughton Park & Gardens and the menu is inspired by the surrounding lush natural environment. Wherever possible, dishes are crafted from fresh, seasonal and sustainable ingredients from the bistro’s very own garden (you don’t get much more local than that).
Beyond its rustic wooden exterior, The Garden Bistro is a sleek casual dining space. There is also a large outdoor patio area for enjoying al fresco meal on finer days.
The Garden Bistro serves up brunch, an all day selection of big and small plates, and an evening a la carte menu.
Sample picks from the a la carte include starters of MacSween’s haggis spring roll with clapshot, whisky & grain mustard sauce, or poached pear with Strathdon blue cheese, caramelised walnuts and port reduction.
Mains include Campbell’s Gold 8oz Scotch sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce or seared sea bass fillet with roasted butternut squash, toasted seed pesto, lime & coriander salsa. Veggies can try dishes such as wild mushroom arancini with mascarpone stuffing.
Brunch choices include a full Scottish breakfast or a vegetarian alternative, or Scotch pancakes with blueberries, Greek yoghurt and maple syrup.
As well as being placed in a beautiful park, The Garden Bistro is a short drive away from Edinburgh Zoo, Murrayfield Stadium and Carrick Knowe Golf Course.
There are various direct bus routes from the city centre and Balgreen Road tram stop is a brisk seven-minute walk across the park. The restaurant also offers ample free parking.
