My partner and I went to the Skerries Restaurant for a meal on Saturday night. We've not been before, we arrived early and had a drink at the bar, then got taken over to our table. The dining room is lovely, corniced ceiling, lots of room and space. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal - I had the scallops with black pudding (which was honestly the tastiest version of this starter I've ever tried, it was amazing!) and chicken roulade with smokey mash and the chocolate trio for dessert. The food was lovely, the service was very friendly and efficient without being overbearing. We would definitely go back again, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Thank you very much!

We booked a table at Skerries after the rugby. It was very noisy as you can imagine but it just added to the atmosphere. The food was excellent. I had the venison which was cooked to perfection. My partner had the pigeon for starters, he said it was delicious.

Ba’ Bar Restaurant is a stylish restaurant within Dunstane House Hotel on West Coates in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. Named after some of Scotland’s most northerly islands, the restaurant uses the best produce available from the Highlands and Islands to create their quality seafood and Scottish dishes. Ba’ Bar Restaurant is child-friendly and also has a cosy separate bar where diners are welcome to relax with a drink before or after their meal.
The menus at Ba’ Bar change in order to make the best of the fresh ingredients so each season will bring a different host of items and flavours for visitors to enjoy. An example of some dishes that may be on offer include the Orkney seafood chowder, Loch Duart salmon with puy lentils, pancetta and a horseradish cream and the Dunstane burger (prime Scotch beef, chargrilled with smoked Applewood cheddar, gherkins, baby onions and chips).
Some popular items at the restaurant deserve special mention, however. Edinburgh locals and hotel guests alike have praised Skerries’ haggis bon bons with a tomato and chilli jam, the poached smoked haddock with creamed potato, leek and mustard, and the Orkney rib eye steak with chips and a red wine sauce or garlic and herb butter.
Ba’ Bar Restaurant is on West Coates in the West End of Edinburgh. Haymarket train station is around ten minutes on foot from the restaurant and Dunstane House Hotel has a private on-site car park with ten spaces.
