Traditional Italian restaurant in Edinburgh

Al Dente is located on Easter Road just northeast of Edinburgh’s city centre and is a charming restaurant serving freshly prepared Italian cuisine. The atmosphere at Al Dente is relaxed and welcoming and the restaurant is accessible to wheelchair users and also child-friendly. As the restaurant is a short distance from the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre it is an ideal venue for a pre-show meal as well as a romantic dinner or special occasion.

Fresh, authentic Italian food

The chef at Al Dente is a native of Italy and freshly cooks all dishes using top quality ingredients. The success of the restaurant lies with the friendly and attentive service from the waiting staff as well as the authenticity and high standards in the kitchen.

Starters on the menu include items such as the vegetarian rice balls with mozzarella, meat balls and the grilled baby squid stuffed with pepper and courgette. The menu’s pasta section features the traditional spaghetti al frutti di mare (spaghetti with seafood in a white wine sauce) and the Napolitan favourite of paccheri al branzino (fresh pasta tubes filled with a sea bass puree, served with mussels and king prawns in a seafood sauce).

Other main courses on offer include the grilled lamb steak with garlic & rosemary sauce and served with roasted potatoes and vegetables and also the pork fillet on a red wine sauce reduction.

City centre & Leith accessibility

Al Dente is on Easter road and around fifteen minutes on foot from the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre. Waverley train station is a brisk twenty minute walk from the restaurant and there are bus services to the city centre and Leith with several bus stops nearby.
