Unique bar on Playfair-designed Edinburgh terrace

Located on Edinburgh’s most prestigious Georgian terrace, rt’s is the bar for 24 Royal Terrace, a boutique hotel housed in a William Playfair-designed townhouse. The Georgian setting works well with the multi-million pound modern refurbishment and makes rt’s quite exceptional. Hung with an ever changing collection of contemporary Scottish paintings as well as both Modern British and Aboriginal art, rt’s features an extensive whisky collection and its own house Champagne. It is unique. Where else in Edinburgh can you sip on a Sporran Cooler cocktail while admiring a John Bellany painting? For all the chic surrounds and original art, prices are in line with other Edinburgh city centre venues.

Luxury light bites

As well as an exemplary Scottish breakfast, rt’s serves an all day menu of clever light bites. Both residents and locals are equally welcome to graze on a plate of Scottish charcuterie with an Innis and Gunn beer or make a meal of it by pick and mixing several plates.

In addition to savoury choices like the beetroot-cured salmon gravadlax or the filo-wrapped shoulder of lamb with a pea and mint dip, there are also sweet options. A portion of tiramisu would round off any meal while the orange and olive oil cake would be perfect for a mid-afternoon treat.

Royal Terrace attractions

Royal Terrace is a brisk ten minute walk from Waverley station. Edinburgh Playhouse is a short stroll while the tram line and several major bus routes are just a couple of minutes further away. There is limited on-street parking.
