A friend got me a deal from 5pm.co.uk for the Old Loans Inn, the service was excellent the two ladies on were very friendly and helpful. The decor was beautiful and warm but the star was the meal as I started with potato and leek soup which was lovely my wife had the haggis and black pudding fritters which she loved. We both had the shin of beef and the meat was cooked perfectly along with the vegetables, the mash was so fluffy - the star was the gravy amazing. Many thanks for a wonderful day.

The Old Loans Inn is a country pub, restaurant and boutique hotel on Main Street in the quaint village of Loans, on the outskirts of Troon. Originally an 18th century coaching inn, the hotel’s restaurant has won several awards for its excellent restaurant and bar menus. Both the bar and restaurant neatly balance modern comfort with a rustic feel and, of course, pictures which reflect the region’s enviable golfing heritage. The sunken beer garden is popular during the warm summer months. The Old Loans Inn is part of the family-owned SimpsInns group.
Local produce is to the fore across the extensive menus at the Old Loans Inn. From breakfast, brunch, lunch and evening meals to coffee and cake or afternoon tea, Ayrshire produce such as ham, cheddar and pork are prominent.
The menus range from Scottish classics such as haddock and chips or braised beef, sausage and Arran ale pie to jalfrezi curries, pumpkin tortellini and roast veg enchiladas. There is a steak grill section, salads, sandwiches, sharing platters, small plate options and a Sunday roast. Whatever the occasion or time of day, the kitchen has plenty of engaging suggestions. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are all available.
The Old Loans Inn is on Main Street in the village of Loans on the outskirts of Troon. Free car parking is available on-site. Troon and Barassie are the nearest train stations. Local attractions include the Royal Troon, Kilmarnock (Barassie) and Dundonald Links golf courses.
