Lovely setting. Went for afternoon tea with my mum we both enjoyed it . Great service. Great choice of sandwiches and cakes. Definitely will be back .

Lovely restaurant, amazing food, service superb, Stephen and Rebecca on the late shift and all other staff were friendly, chatty and so attentive, with good recommendations about food and wine choices. Surprisingly good value for money. Can not rate highly enough.

Afton Restaurant is part of the four star Lochside House Hotel, originally a shooting lodge for the Marquis of Bute. Close to New Cumnock, the hotel is set within 20 acres of land and overlooks The Loch of the Lowes. With glass walls and a wraparound terrace, the restaurant’s design means that diners can enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding Ayrshire countryside. Inside, the decor is sleek, contemporary and airy. Afton Restaurant is as popular with local residents and visitors to the area as it is with hotel guests.
From Cajun chicken crepes to beef fajitas and desi chicken curries, the menus at Afton Restaurant take their culinary cues from around the world. More local flavours are to the fore in dishes like the haggis and black pudding tower, smoked haddock and prawn tagliatelle or the braised gigot of lamb from the Taste of Scotland section of the menu.
Along with a burger selection, grill section, array of salads and light bites menu, there are several sandwiches and ciabatta to choose from. The kitchens also provide kids’ menus and have plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. In short, whether you fancy a sirloin steak or a teriyaki chicken tortilla, the Afton chefs can provide.
Afton Restaurant is part of Lochside House Hotel & Spa. It is by the A76 in between Cumnock and New Cumnock. The hotel has ample car parking.
