Mintleaf can be found on Bernard Street in Leith and offers authentic Thai and Indian cuisine. Around the corner from The Shore, the restaurant is wheelchair accessible, child-friendly, and also boasts two private dining rooms on the mezzanine floor. The Mintleaf premises are listed and the owners have sympathetically furnished the interior with colourful velvet seats, massive mirrors and even a log fire. Striking as the decor is, it’s the Indian and Thai dishes which keep the customers coming back.
At Mintleaf, diners never need to decide between eating their favourite Thai or Indian dishes – they can have both. Guests can kick off with a classic Thai tom yum gai soup or go Indian and order pakora, samosa or even a Pathia style sea bass starter. The cross country choice continues among the main courses where Punjabi style lamb, chicken kormas and sizzling tandoori dishes rub shoulders with fragrant fishcakes; Thai curries and fantastic Thai stir fries made with chicken, beef or duck.
The restaurant’s talented chefs serve up all the most popular Indian and Thai dishes but also ventures off the beaten track. Try the Thai-style roast duck stir-fried in a spicy sweet sauce flavoured with honey and mustard. For an exotic taste of India at Mintleaf, diners might order the lamb cooked in an exotic calamansi sauce with lemon leaves and Bengali chillies.
Mintleaf is on Bernard Street in Leith, north of Edinburgh. Some payable on-street parking is available nearby which is free after 17:00. As well as being well provided with taxis, the restaurant is on several bus routes linking The Shore, Leith to Edinburgh city centre.
