Dining at The Buchanan Arms

Local produce freshly prepared to order is the central theme of the menu at Salmon Leap, the restaurant within The Buchanan Arms. The chefs produce dishes which are simple but stylish and feature many tried and tested, traditional Scottish favourites.

The hotel’s welcoming snug bar, lounge and conservatory has a wide selection of single malts and a cosy open fire, making it ideal for a drink before or after dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel includes a continental and full Scottish breakfast buffet, with a selection of cereals, breads, fruits, cheeses, yoghurts and juices as well as freshly cooked hot items.

Guests who would like dishes served to their room can order room service from 12noon until 10pm and snacks at any time.

h3. Spa and leisure

Guests at The Buchanan Arms also have full access to the Relax Health and Fitness Club.

This state of the art club features a 14m indoor heated pool, spa bath, sauna, steam room, squash court and aerobics studio. There is also a fully equipped gymnasium managed by trained and qualified instructors who are always on hand to offer support. A range of fitness classes are available, including yoga, aqua aerobics and swimming lessons.

The open plan reception by the poolside has a viewing gallery and cafe style seating area, offering a place to relax with a tea or coffee following a workout.

h3. Explore Drymen and Loch Lomond

The Buchanan Arms is located in the conservation village of Drymen, part of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

The popular tourist town has a long history. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Drymen was a popular stopover for Highland cattle drovers. The beautiful parish was built in 1881 and just outside the village are the ruins of Buchanan Castle, a former stronghold of the powerful Grahams of Montrose which dates back to the 17th Century.

Drymen is a great base to explore the spectacular eastern shore of Loch Lomond. As the Buchanan Arms is situated on the path of the West Highland Way, guests could complete some of the famous walk or rent bikes in the village and follow the Loch Lomond cycleway.

Ideal location, friendly staff

4 out of 5 stars

Suited our requirements - hotel needs a bit of a refurbishment, But location, staff, facilities were just what we needed. Great base for exploring east side of Loch Lomond, with Balloch, Balmaha, Rowardennan all within easy reach of Drymen. Well priced, so good value for money for us, and we would do it again.

Great price but dreadful bedroom

Need to watch that the 5 p.m. customers are not being treated less favourably that 'full' paying guests.
