Nestled at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, the Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club offers unforgettable views.

Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym. The hotel also offers two dining choices of the Kingfisher Restaurant or Peaks Bar & Grill. Free parking and free WiFi are also available.

The Ben Nevis is only a five-minute drive from Fort William and is close to both the River Lochy and Loch Eil.

Comfy rooms

Each of the hotel’s 119 guest rooms is ensuite with a TV, direct dial telephone, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Many also have mountain views.

Superior, family/triple and four-poster rooms are also available. Added perks of four-poster rooms include views of Ben Nevis, flat screen TVs, bathtubs, luxurious toiletries, bathrobes & slippers, mineral water and crisps for snacking.

Some rooms are in the main hotel while others are in the quieter East Lodge, which is connected to the main building by a walkway. There is no lift at the hotel but there are ground floor rooms available.

Choice of two dining spots

The Kingfisher offers sweeping views of Ben Nevis, traditional decor and a menu of quality local produce.

Dishes can change seasonally, but sample mains might include the roast breast of Grampian chicken with creamy mash and a whisky pepper sauce, the lightly grilled fillet of North Sea cod served on a creamy hollandaise sauce with capers and spring onions, and the crispy coated vegetable kiev with dressed mixed salad.

The bar also serves a selection of fine malts, perfect for an after dinner digestif.

Explore Fort William and Lochaber

While staying at the Ben Nevis, it is well worth taking a scenic ride up the Nevis Range Mountain Gondola for a hot chocolate in the Snowgoose Restaurant & Bar.

When the weather is mild you can also enjoy hiking, climbing, mountain biking, water sports and bird watching, while in winter there is skiing and snowboarding.

Other activities including exhilarating walks by Loch Eil or the River Lochy, as well as boat cruises and wildlife safaris. Or you could even play a spot of golf at the Fort William club.

Nearby attractions include the town of Fort William, Old Inverlochy Castle, the Ben Nevis Distillery, the Jacobite Steam Railway, Neptune’s Staircase and the West Highland Museum. To learn more about natural history, head to the Treasures of the Earth fossil, gemstone and crystal museum.
