Lovingly renovated by owner Billy Robertson, The Crown & Kitchen prides itself of being the local that everyone wants on their doorstep. The four individually styled guest rooms have a contemporary feel and come with an ensuite bathroom, king size beds, free WiFi and Freeview TV. The white, pastel and neutral tones of the decor creates a bright, airy atmosphere. Each room has its own name, so choose from The Fountain, The Town Square, The Clock Tower or The Gallery.

Pub dining with a contemporary twist

The hotel’s Bistro-style restaurant prides itself on offering ingredients from local suppliers. The menu mixes traditional pub classics with contemporary, cosmopolitan dishes, cheffy touches and imaginative vegetarian options. Menus can change, but highlights from the mains could include the haggis, neeps & tatties and the battered haddock & chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. The Crown & Kitchen bar is a great combination of stylish hangout and traditional pub. Ten draft ales and beers are stocked, as well as an impressive selection of whiskies, wines and spirits. You might also want to sample one of the many cocktails. On warmer evenings you can relax in the beer garden before your meal.

East Linton is less than half an hour from Edinburgh and makes an excellent base for a relaxed break in the beautiful scenery of East Lothian. A main village attraction is the Preston Mill, Scotland’s oldest mechanically-intact watermill. Hailes Castle is a romantic ruin right on your doorstep and the region’s turbulent history means it is blessed with numerous castles and ruins. The attractive beaches of Gullane and North Berwick are a few minutes drive to the north, and the John Muir long-distance trail offers a variety of strolls for hikers. Some of the best golf courses in the world, including British Open Courses Muirfield, Gullane No. 1 and Archerfield are close to The Crown And Kitchen. In fact, there are over 20 golf courses within a 10-mile radius of the hotel.
