A luxury camping, or “glamping” site in East Lothian, Harvest Moon Holidays is perfect for those who love the idea of farmyard life but who don’t want to sacrifice their home comforts. The site hosts luxury tents and treehouses equipped with hot showers and cosy beds and is surrounded by chickens, ponies and a stunning backdrop of the East Lothian coast.

Despite being less than an hour from Edinburgh, Harvest Moon Holidays has the feel of a rural retreat, particularly as the last part of the journey to the site involves driving through a bumpy field road.

Luxury treehouses and safari tents

All of the safari tents and treehouses at Harvest Moon Holidays are spacious and fitted with en suite toilets, a hot shower, a wood burning stove, kitchen and electricity. The treehouses at Harvest Moon Holidays have two double bedrooms, one with an extra single bunk above, and en suite WC and hot shower room. A covered walkway leads to the living area which has a Belfast sink, Italian log-burning stove, fridge, and kitchen utensils. It also has a yacht-style table which drops down to form a bed for extra guests.

The safari tents at Harvest Moon Holidays have an internal area of 4.5m x 9m. Each tent sleeps six to eight people in their two bedrooms. The tents also have toilets, hot showers, and all the kitchen utensils guests could need. There is also a comfortable lounge/dining area which opens out to a covered veranda for sitting out.

The treehouses and tents are around half a mile from each other so all guests have plenty of space.

Rural retreat

Based beside Lochhouses Farm, guests at Harvest Moon Holidays can experience true farmyard life. The kids’ corner is filled with chickens, ducks, bunnies, lambs and ponies. Parents can sit on their decks and watch their children play with the animals. Guests can even hire their own hen for the weekend which will delight wee ones as they race every morning to check whether their own breakfast has been laid.

The site is surrounded by beaches, sand dunes, trees and farmland, and guests who clamber to the top of the sand dunes will be rewarded by a stunning view of the coast from Bass Rock in the north to the ruined castle of Dunbar to the south. There are also lots of nearby cliffs, castles, sandy bays and battlefields to explore. The coastal paradise at Harvest Moon Holidays North between Berwick and Dunbar apparently has less rain and more sunshine than any other part of the UK.
