Description

The 4 star Hallmark Hotel Carlisle is in the heart of the city next to the historic Court Square. Originally built in 1853 for the arrival of Queen Victoria, it nowadays combines 19th century grandeur with 21st century comforts. Inside the grand white building you’ll original features like high ceilings and large windows complimented by contemporary artworks. For a £10 supplement, guests can access the swimming pool, sauna, spa baths and gymnasium of the DW Sports Fitness Club, a ten-minute walk away. The hotel also has a restaurant, lounge bar and 24-hour room service.

So at Hallmark Carlisle, you’ll find comfy king or twin single beds complete with crisp linen and plump pillows. Guest rooms boast the large windows of a fine old Victorian establishment, while bold splashes of colour add a modern touch.

The colourful Hallmark Grill restaurant offers an acclaimed mix of British and European modern classics, light bites and the hotel’s legendary afternoon tea. Menus change regularly but expect starters such as honey mustard chicken skewers, Welsh rarebit tart and chicken liver pâté. Typical mains might include forest mushroom mezzaluna pasta, the smoked haddock & spring onion fishcakes and 8 or 10oz ribeye steaks with chunky chips.

Carlisle is a perfect base for exploring the rugged beauty of Cumbria. Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District National Park and the 800-year-old Cartmel Priory are all within convenient reach of the city. Other highlights include Carlisle Castle, Carlisle Cathedral and the Guildhall Museum, based in a 15th century home. The World in Miniature Museum is a quirky attraction featuring dollhouse sized copies of antiques, paintings and china showcased in tiny room sets. The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, a mini steam train journey of seven miles, is also well worth a jaunt.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made prior to 48 hours of the booking. Check-in 2pm, late check-out to noon. Children welcome; a supplementary charge of £15 is required per extra bed per child. Children are classed as age 11 and under, dinner will be charged as taken. Max of 2 children. Dogs are permitted at a supplementary charge of £15 per pet per night. Max of 2 dogs.
