Description
Lovely holiday cottage in the Scottish Borders
Stainiebrae is a cosy and immaculate cottage close to Selkirk and around an 60-minute drive from Edinburgh. The cottage sleeps up to four people and includes a cot.
French doors lead out onto a secure private garden overlooking the Yarrow Valley, with a seated patio for enjoying the view. All guests are treated to a complimentary welcome hamper and fresh flowers. Around a mile away you will find various pubs and shops.
Whether you are looking to explore the Scottish Borders or just enjoy stunning sunsets while sipping on a glass of wine, Stainiebrae offers a very special escape.
Everything you need for a comfy stay
Stainiebrae is a relaxing space with wooden floors, traditional features and splashes of tartan. The open plan living area has a crackling stove fireplace with a box of logs, oak dining table and 49-inch flat screen satellite TV.
There are also two bedrooms (a double and a twin with two singles), bathroom with a shower, and well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine.
Free WiFi is also available, plus books, games, bed linen, towels and high chair.
Explore the beautiful Scottish Borders
The local area around the cottage is great for hiking, cycling, swimming, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding, plus there are three golf courses nearby. Scenic walks include the Three Brethren, Grey Mares Tale, Border Abbey Way and the iconic Eildon Hills. You can also take a stroll along the nearby Ettrick Water to spot seasonal salmon leaping.
History buffs will love include Abbotsford (Home of Sir Walter Scott), the 12th century Melrose Abbey and Jedburgh Abbey. Bustling Borders towns like Melrose, Galashiels and Hawick are all just a short drive away.
The rest of the Borders is fantastic too. Dense, mysterious forests such as Glentress are great for wildlife spotting, or you could head to a beach destination like Eyemouth or St. Abbs. Pretty Peebles overlooks the Tweed and is always worth a visit for afternoon tea or souvenir shopping.
