Description

Gigha Hotel is a small, friendly, family-run residence on the island of the same name.

Perched above Ardminish Bay on the Kintyre peninsula, the hotel offers breathtaking sea views. Facilities include an award-winning bistro-style restaurant, a bar area; a large, comfortable guest lounge for reading, relaxing and playing board games, free parking and free WiFi.

Sea view rooms

All of the rooms at Gigha Hotel are ensuite, spacious and extremely comfortable. Every room has the major benefit of a sea view and is cheerfully decorated. Other features include a TV, hairdryer and hot drink making facilities.

Scottish produce

The hotel’s Sound of Gigha Bistro previously won a Taste Our Best 2015/16 title from Visit Scotland. The hotel’s chefs are proud to use locally sourced produce to treat guests to a taste of the island and surrounding areas. This includes sustainable Gigha halibut, locally made Kintyre cheese and bread baked on the premises.

The menus at the restaurant change depending on what fresh, local produce is available, but typical starters might include the chicken and black pudding salad with a port & red wine sauce or the crayfish cocktail on gem lettuce with marie rose sauce and artisan bread. Mains may include the pan fried salmon fillet caesar salad served with gem lettuce, anchovies, parmesan and caesar dressing or the slow roast lamb shank in a rosemary & mint sauce on creamed potatoes and roast vegetables.

There is also a range of desserts to choose from such as the warm banoffee pie with cream or the apple cider & brandy charlotte with ice cream.

See & Do

Gigha may be small but there is no shortage of things to do on the island. For instance, many guests like to explore the magnificent Achamore Gardens. Another highlight is watching dolphins play off the South Pier.

You could also hire a sea kayak, rowing boat or wetsuit from Gigha Boats Activity Centre; play the island’s challenging 9-hole golf course or simply walk to the top of Creag Bhan and watch the sun set behind Islay.
