Brander Lodge

The Brander Lodge is a family-run hotel set in over three acres of land in a breathtaking mountain pass in Argyle. Once the site of a victorious battle of Robert the Bruce, the Pass of Brander now offers memorable walks pierced through by the River Awe.

Yet while the setting is ruggedly dramatic, the hotel itself has a stylish and contemporary vibe.

All of the 21 guest rooms have been recently refurbished and decorated in light colours. Each features a big comfy bed, double glazing, central heating, free WiFi, tea & coffee making facilities and a wall-mounted TV.

The ensuite bathroom offers a Mira power shower and complimentary toiletries.

Scenic bistro and firelit bar

The sleek and airy conservatory-style bistro is the soul of the hotel. Guests can enjoy a view of the rugged mountain pass through the patio windows or on the terrace area in finer weather.

The kitchen team pride themselves on serving fresh local produce such as fresh smoked seafood from Inverawe smokehouse and meats from Grants of Taynuilt.

After dining you can head to the lounge bar with its log burning fireplace and big comfy leather armchairs, then peruse the menu of over 100 malt whiskies.

The Brander Pass offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe which you can explore while walking, climbing and fishing.

Ben Cruachan ‘Hollow Mountain’ is near to the hotel and is so called because of the underground hydroelectric power station located in a cavern inside of it. Visitors can explore this incredible power station as well as the huge dam beside it.

Other nearby attractions include the fairytale Inveraray Castle and Loch Awe, Scotland’s longest freshwater loch. Oban is less than a half hour drive away and includes a famous distillery as well as Dunollie Castle.
